Hotpoint washer dryer model wd440 fault code flashing ligh

That error code is F13 which is a dryer NTC error code.

If it does it on the wash cycles then what you need to do is remove the top and there you will see the dryer chamber on the top.
Towards the front of this is the dryer NTC. It will have 2 thin wires on it. Check the wires on there are not broken.
If thats fine then test the resistance of the NTC and see what you get, Its normall about 20K ohms at room temperture. If faulty then it will need to be replaced.

But if the NTC and the wiring to it is fine then it will be the main control board at the back at fault here im afraid which would need to be replaced and programmed up.

hi there. i tried to run the machine with zero temp settings selected for the dryer or washer. on the spin cycle it did run a wee bit longer but same fault. could this still be an ntc fault.

Yeah. Still the same fault I'm afraid.
The electronics are picking up a break in the dryer sensor circuit. So it doesn't matter if you have the temperatures turned do or using it just on a spin. It's readings are out of range for the control board so that's why it's error coding out like this.
