I understand the thermostat is turning the compressor on, but what do you mean by 'but stops'? Can you also give the model number information from the label in the fridge

Model tlda662s. The motor seems to start then cuts out

Providing that the thermostat is the correct one, the phial at the end of the thermostat has been placed in the correct place, and the wiring has been placed in the correct positions the only other cause of what you are describing is a defective compressor or compressor relay.
