I recently purchased a kenwood American style fridge freezer

Customer Question

Hi, I recently purchased a kenwood American style fridge freezer on auction I collected it myself in my van. I had to lay it flat on its back to fit in the van. When I got it home I let it stand for at least 5 hours and then switched it on, it came on and I set the temps to -18 freezer and 4 for fridge it has been on now for 48 hours and there is no sign of it cooling.
can you help me please
regards mick

Thanks for that. Im afraid not good news. If this running and its hot but theres no cooling inside the freezer then its a system fault here. Either its a poor pumping compressor or the gas has escaped from the appliance from a cracked or broken pipe.As the compressor is hot then electrically its fine as its doing what it should. Theres just no gas getting pumped around the system to be able to do the cooling here that's why its not cold inside and the compressor is hot. But for this fault you will have to get a fridge engineer in as this isn't a diy repair. As they will need to put there gauges on the pipe work at the back to see if theres gas in there and what pressure the compressor is pumping at. Sorry this isn't good news but for a diy repair on this there isn't one as you need the correct equipment and tools to be able to carry out the repair. If you need anymore info just get back to me.
