This answer was rated:

Started a 30 minute wash programme for delicates. At 12 minutes showing in the window, the machine just stopped. After about 5 minutes the word 'door' appeared in the window, I tried everything to get the machine to start again, pushed the door, unplugged the machine, waited, turned on again, still 12 in the window and nothing. Any ideas ?
Hi Can you post the model number please. Also when it comes up door is the door actually locked so you cannot open it? Regards

It's an INDESIT 1600 - WIXE167
Yes the door is actually locked when it comes up door
Thanks for that. As the door is staying locked then theres a few things that can cause this. The first thing is check the door lock and wiring. Pull the washer out and remove the top of the washer. Then open the door and remove the 2 screws holding the door lock on.Then make sure its unplugged and then reach down the front and lift the door lock up. From there you will see the wiring block. Check the wiring block there as this can start to burn and cause this fault. If the wiring has burnt then you need to replace the door lock and repair the wires on there as well and fingers crossed this cures it. But if the lock and wiring look ok then you need to remove the back of the washer. There you will see the motor at the bottom of the drum.Remove this and at the back either sides are the carbon brushes. Remove them and see if they have worn. If so then you need to replace them as if they re only a few mm long this will also cause the same kind of fault with the door. So check them 2 out and see what you find as usually its one of the above that causes this fault. Regards
