Customer Question

we have a hotpoint BHWM129 which is stuck in a cycle and will not drain at all. Consequently we cannot open the door to get to the washing as it is still full of water.
When we turn the dial to 'C' which is the pump out action, it just makes a humming sound and doesn't let the water drain out. The lock door light is constantly red
Any help would be gratefully received

If its not draining what you need to do is remove the wooden kick board at the bottom of your kitchen.

From there you will see the filter on the far right.

Place a shallow tray under there and slower lossen the filter to drain the water out. This may take a while if theres a lot of water in there so you will need a few towels as well.

Once all the water is out then you can fully unscrew the filter and remove it from there.

Then give it a good clean out. Then look inside the chamber were the filter goes and at the back you will see the pump impeller X shape.

Check theres nothing stuck in there jamming the pump impeller up.

Once its all clear refit the filter and retry the washer and fingers crossed this cure the fault from there and gets the washer draining again.

Try that and see how it goes and let me know.

We managed to drain the machine and I cleared a couple of rusty old coins out. The impeller turns no problem. However, the machine still does not drain, as we tried a rinseDarren

Okay so if the pump is clear and the filter is clear but is still not draining and is more than likely a faulty pump.
Set the washer going on a spin cycle and see if you can hear a slight humming noise from the bottom. If you do hear the humming noise and the washer still isn't draining and then drain pump is faulty and will need to be replaced
