we have atrocity Bendix dw model tdf 200 in use for aprox 11 yrs and are now finding that dishes are not being washed properly despite salt being added and carrying out a cleaning wash programme frequently have you any ideas as what may be wrong?

Do you noitce the dishwasher gets hot during use and does it dry at the end of the cycle?

sorry for delay in reply and for misspells in original message we have not noticed any excessive heating during a wash but have noticed occasionally that dishes were not dried thoroughly.

Dont worry for the delay or the miss spelling. Im the worlds worst for spelling as well.

Anyway as to the fault for what you describe with the poor wash results is a heating issue. As if it doesnt get hot it will still carry on through the cycle but wont give good wash results.

What you need to do if trying to fix this yourelf is pull the dishwasher out and remove the side panels.

From there locate the heater cylinder. Its a silver cylinder with the wiring block on it. You need a multi meter to test this. Check it for contonuity as it should read about 28Ohms. If faulty then it will need to be replaced.

But if the heater is fine then its more then likely the control board. Remove this and open it and remove the board from the casing. Check for any dry joints on the board as the heater relay can give a dry joint. If there is try a resolder it and see if this cures it.

So check the above if you are able to as from what you say i think this is a heating issue here.
