Hi, in general only the cooker hot plates get too hot to touch, but if you use the appliance for an extended period of time, yes other surfaces can get hot as well, but not like a conventional stove top so they stay much cooler to the touch. But still its a good idea not to touch the other surfaces while it is in use.
I have one and for the most part, the only parts that really get hot are the hot plates;-)
