We have a 3 yr old Flavel FSG51. The oven won't stay lit

Customer Question

Hi. We have a 3 yr old Flavel FSG51. The oven won't stay lit after ignition and one side of the flame is orange. Can you advise, please? Many thanks!

Hi , there is a flame supervision device that sits in the burner, gets heated when the flame is lit then opens to full gas rate. If this probe is faulty or dirty then the oven won't stay alight. As the flame is yellow the burner most likely has some food that may have dropped onto the burner.

Clean the burner thouroughly (it can be taken out. B it should be done by a gas safe engineer

Hi. Thank you for this. Could repeat the last instruction please - the part in brackets isn't too clear.
Thank you

If we vacuum clean the oven to see if there are any dropped bits of food, then steam clean between the gaps - is that safe? And can we test the oven afterwards? Thanks

Hi, yes you can do that. What you are looking for is an even blue flame

But it's safe to steam clean between the cracks?

I would Hoover first then lightly use a damp cloth. If the flame co!our doesn't improve then get an engineer out.
