Are the fibres burnt on, I suggest you use a light dry scouring pad. To bring up the fibres freed up by the pad, you sellotape wrapped around you hand to help pick up and debris, then wipe over with a clean cloth. I often use a window cleaner to give a good finish, and buff up with a dry cloth.
