I have a Beko larder freezer model TZDA629FS. The red light

This answer was rated:

I have a Beko larder freezer model TZDA629FS. The red light on the display is flashing and the code E4 is flashing. This has been happening for two weeks. The original problem started about four weeks ago when one of my kids left the door open overnight and defrosted it. I switched it off and defrosted it thoroughly for 24 hrs including putting a hair drier on the vent at the top to ensure the heat exchanger was properly defrosted. All then seemed to work for a few days and then this fault code appeared and the red light started flashing. The temperature in the freezer is now gradually warming up. I understand that there may be a simple fix?

Good afternoon my name is ***** ***** I will assist with your query today.

Hi James my name is***** help would be appreciated as I am about to lose my freezer contents for the second time in a few weeks

Hi David,

E4 signifies a failure with the integrated heater designed for the'self defrost' function, for the cooling elements and back panel.

This is clearly a hardware failure, I would suggest you arrange an engineer to site to strip the unit down and check the heater, it may be the heating element or the defrost sensor at fault. Which is probably why the appliance isnt keeping temperature properly.

If you provide you postcode I can recommend an engineer in your area.

My post code is TN16 3NR but this will probably work out cheaper to buy another freezer?

Due to your proximity to London its looking around the 130-150 mark, which two thirds is labour costs.

I think I would be inclined to buy a replacement freezer such as the one here for £190.

If you do decide to get the unit repaired I would suggest you use Harris Refrigeration -(###) ###-####1582
