This answer was rated:

i have a hotpoint washing machine. i did a wash yesterday evening and soon after a put this washing cleaner in the drum to give the machine a clean. This was left on over night.
I have just come home and tried to open the door. After a short time, the door opened and water came out all over the floor. The drum is half full with water

Can you post the model number please.

Also if you close the door and select a spin only cycle will it drain the water out?

i have put it on a fast spin cycle now and while it is working there is a buzzing noise.

So has the water drained out from the washer now?

Is the humming noise coming from the bottom?

the humming noise has stopped and there are soap bubbles in the bottom with water in the drum

Ok it think this may be down to a blocked filter.

If you remove the plastic trim on the front at the bottom there on the bottom right is the filter.

Place a shallow tray under there and slacken the filter to slowly drain the water from there.

Once the water is out then you can fully remove the filter from there and give it a good clean.

Then look in there were the filter goes and at the back is the pump impeller X shape. Check theres nothing stuck in there and jamming the pump up.

Once its all clear refit the filter and retry the washer and fingers crossed this sorts it out from there.
