The washing machine is several years old.
It has just started vibrating on spin with a washing load in place. When no washing in place it does not vibrate.
All springs and dampers are in place.

Hi

If you turn the drum by hand do you feel or hear a rumbling noise?

Also hold the metal drum at the bottom at the front and see if you can lift it up and down a bit and let me know.

Thanks

Turning the drum by hand feels smooth and there is no rumbling noise.
Holding the metal drum at the bottom at the front there is a lot of movement up and down.

If there movement up and down then im afraid the bearings have failed.

Now this is a major job and an expensive repair as well. You are looking at over £140 if getting an engineer in. But if you want to fix yourself then you need to fully remove the drum from the washer and strip the drum down to access the bearings and you need to knock them out and press the new ones in.

Sorry its not good news here for the fault you have is drum bearings have failed here.

Just as an afterthought, the 3 dampers underneath move in and out very freely.

If they move in and over very easy then they are probberly on there way out as well.

So new shocks and bearings just isnt worth fixing im afraid due to the cost. Buts that up to yourself.
