Customer: replied 6 months ago.
How long please
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

Hello, could you give a lot more detail about this problem?

Where is the code?
What is the code?
What happened just before the code appeared?
Can you still see the normal display?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
There’s nothing to say it just appeared after coming off Netflix a few weeks ago
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

I can't talk on the phone at the moment, but I can continue helping you on here.

I’m being advised online to unplug tv hold down channel down button and input button, I don’t have an input button
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No I don’t want to pay £16 for a phone call
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

I can't comment on what someone else is advising you. That isn't how this works.

Let me know when you've completely finished doing what they're asking you to do, and I'll do my best to help you.

I would reset the TV to factory settings.

For your model, you should be able to do that as follows:

  1. Unplug the television.
  2. Press and hold the "Channel Down" and "Input" buttons on the panel.
  3. Plug the television back in while holding down these buttons. ...
  4. Keep holding the buttons until the television powers back on. ...
  5. Use the remote to navigate the "Service Mode" menu and select "Factory Reset" from the menu.

If you don't have an Input button on the TV, please tell me the exact model of your TV, and attach a photo of the buttons on the TV.

That's a very good photo - thank you.

Could you also take a photo of the data label on the rear panel of the TV?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Did you get it
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Are you there
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

Thank you - I've just seen it.

The model is a LC-49CFG6352K. Bear with me while I dig out the manual.

Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

To reset the TV:

Select Menu -> Settings -> Reset TV.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Tried that many times
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

I don't understand. When I proposed doing a factory reset an hour ago, had you already done one at that stage?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I don’t have a factory reset option just reset tv which doesn’t do anything.
When I turn the tv off I have to retune all the channels back in when I switch it on.
Should I take out the internet cables
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

Reset TV is the factory reset option.

It resets the menus to factory settings and clears all the TV channels from the television.

Yes I would unplug the Ethernet cable and all devices from USB ports and DVMI ports, then power off and on again, then attempt to reset the TV. When you select that option, exactly what does the TV do?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Goes to a blank blue screen with the code on it
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

I'm running out of suggestions, and might have to conclude that you have a board fault.

Has anyone attempted a firmware upgrade on this TV?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No I don’t know what that is.
I’m attempting a first time setup because I don’t remember doing that when I got it. It’s asking for passwords, does yr manual have that info
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

Passwords plural, or just one password?

If it's doing the WiFi connection, then the password ***** ***** key for your WiFi network.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Okay thanks for yr help
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 6 months ago.

Have you succeeded in completing the setup?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No, giving up now
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 5 months ago.

Hello, how are you getting on with your TV?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
I’m not, I have to tune it in every time I switch it on, the code disappears after a while but it’s there when I switch back on
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 5 months ago.

It's a strange one. Have you tried calling Sharp Customer Support about it?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
I’ve thought about it... I’ll try them tomorrow
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 5 months ago.

If they solve it, and you have time, I'd be grateful if you could let me know how it turns out. It feels to me like a software problem, so they might say that you have to replace the control board. But I'm hoping they have a more helpful answer.

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
I will let you know
Expert:  Tim Cooke replied 5 months ago.

Thanks!
