So you are able to close the door however,the door lock light won't come on and cycle won't start ?

Yes. It allows you to close the door and change it to different wash settings but it won't start cycle

Just wondering roughly how much it will cost excluding call out for an engineer to fix the problem?

The door lock mechanism is faulty and will need replacement.

Control detects faulty mechanism hence, it wont even start.

The part is available for £25+ repair charges.
