JA: How long has this been going on with your Hotpoint dryer? What have you tried so far?

JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Does anything light up at all?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
No lights. On off switch now working again.

What do you mean by the 'on off switch'? are you referring to the start button on the right hand side of the dial on the dryer?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.

When you press the start button what happens? any noises? does the drum start to turn?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
It now seems to be working again!
Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Drum is spinning and there is hot air in drum.

Bizarre! If it tripped your electric do the following checks to help prevent it happening again in the future

Unplug from the mains

Remove condenser (metal filter) and clean through with a hose or shower head

Remove the cover on the back of the dryer and make sure it is dry

Remove the lid and right hand side panel of the dryer and hoover it out

If the fault happens again you will need to replace the heating element.
