I have a Siemens ceramic hob model ET6 EE
JA: Is your Siemens hob gas or electric? How old is it?
Customer: It won’t turn on and there is a flashing horizontal light where there is normally the number for how hot the ring is
JA: How long has this been going on with your Siemens hob? What have you tried so far?
Customer: 2 days. Tried turning the electricity off to the hob. Fault is not in manafacturer’s handbook or on line.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: No

What kind of line is it ? Like a number or backside E ?

Can you attach an image here ?

Please DO NOT ACCEPT the PHONE CALL request.

That is auto generated and not sent by me.

Neither - just a short horizontal linePhoto attached

Thanks for that.

This indicates a communication fault between the main control board and two power boards.

How long have you left it unplugged and how old is it ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Left it unplugged for ~ 2 mins
It’s about 10 years old

OK, try this:

Leave it unplugged for around 40 minutes.

Then press and hold the START button(main switch on the hob).

Whilst holding that plug it back after 40 minutes and let go off the button after around 15 seconds.

Then turn it back on and see if it works.

If the issue is still there then the main board or either of the power boards (left/right) is faulty and will need replacement.

The cost of repair will be around £250 including repair charges.
