Can a Hotpoint freezer be reset after a power cut due to thunder & lightning?
JA: Do you know the model of your Hotpoint freezer? How old is it?
Customer: it is 2 years old - model HF 1801 E F AA.UK
JA: How long has this been going on with your Hotpoint freezer? What have you tried so far?
Customer: it happened on Saturday - I followed the instruction manual but it wouldn’t stop beeping so I have just switched it off at the mains - it’s a built in model
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: the freezer does seem to work but the panel is showing the power sign and won’t stop beeping

Is anyone there?

Hi, I'm Daniel welcome to JustAnswer.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your freezer, Lets see if i can help you on this.

Normally to reset this you just press and hold the alarm button which is the picture of the triangle on the far right and hold this for several seconds and that should reset it.

If not then press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn off.

Then press it again to turn back on and that should have cleared it from there.

Try that and see how it goes from there.

Regards

Hi Daniel, I tried both of those - still beeping
The power button on the panel doesn’t switch it off

If the power button isnt turning off then its faulty.

As you just need to press and hold that for a few seconds and it should turn it off from there.

If it isnt turning off then it can only be a faulty control board here im afraid and for that it will need to be replaced, Sorry.

Just a thought.

Press and hold both the on/off and alarm button together for several seconds and see if this does anything.

Sorry for not getting back sooner - no that’s no working either

Ok im afraid its looking like the control board is faulty here.

The lighting my have spiked the eletronic board on this and caused to fail, Sorry.
