We bought a Hotpoint washer type BIWMHG71284UK in May 2019

This answer was rated:

We bought a Hotpoint washer type BIWMHG71284UK in May 2019 and it has now stopped working and is showing code F08, and the door will not open, although it is off at the mains plug. Thankyou, John.
JA: What happened just before your Hotpoint washer displayed this message?
Customer: Denise says that it showed program 6 and 40, so she closed the cupboard door. Shortly after she noticed that it was quiet and was showing F08. I switched it off at the plug, waited for 2 minutes and switched it on again, but no difference.
JA: How long has this been going on with your Hotpoint washer? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Just this morning and I have tried what I just said. When I tried it again there was as small noise as if the motor was turning but not the drum. And we cannot open the door.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Not as far as I can see any answer.

Good morning John,

Welcome to JustAnswer.com

My name is ***** ***** I will assist you today!

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your appliance.

I understand how frustrating that must be.

F08 indicates heater relay on the main board cannot be activated.

I am afraid, this fault indicates you will have to replace the main board.

However, before replacement you may try this:

Unplug the appliance and pull it out.

Then remove the top and rear panel off the appliance.

You will see heater element, remove the wires and reconnect them (one at a time).

Then towards the left you will see main board, remove the connectors and reconnect (one at a time).

Reconnect everything and plug it back, it should work.

However, if the error returns you will have to replace the board.

You may see automated adverts for phone support sent by website.

I am afraid, I am not available for phone call and we can continue via chat.

If you want phone support, please let me know and another expert may pick it up.

I am glad, I could help.
