I have an issue with my Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher...

This answer was rated:

Hi I have an issue with my Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher...
JA: Are there any error codes or blinking lights on your Hotpoint dishwasher? How old is it?
Customer: yes...led 3 (economy)...prior to this error light I noticed a small 'clunk' on inspection the the lower arm had come out, it didn't appear to be perished in anyway so re fixed it in, the cycle started again but stopped within 10 seconds and the error light appeared...
JA: How long has this been going on with your Hotpoint dishwasher? What have you tried so far?
Customer: first time yesterday
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: It's about 14-15 years old!....minor use though.

Good afternoon,

My name is ***** ***** I will assist you with your appliance today.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your appliance.

I understand how frustrating that can be.

LED 3 indicates overfilling.

This fault indicates too much water has been detected in the dishwasher.

This is usually caused by a faulty pressure switch (the part which monitors the amount of water in your machine), faulty wiring between the switch and the control board or a blockage in the hose connected to the pressure switch.

Are you willing to carry out replacement/repair yourself ?

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
I can carry out the repairs myself, I found that answer on the Hotpoint website however it didn't seem to fit in with the arm coming off?
Customer: replied 9 days ago.
I'm not at home at the moment, is the fault linked to the lower arm?

OK, to repair it yourself, you will have to unplug it and pull it out.

Then lay it on its back and access the pressure switch from underneath with thin hose attached to it.

Remove this hose and blow through it, make sure it is not clogged.

Then reconnect everything and plug it back, it should work.

That's brilliant, many thanks I'll give it a go when I get in from work.

The lower came off due to overfilling, please try previous advise and it should work.

However, if the error returns you will have to replace the pressure switch, the part is available here for £22 + repair charges.
