My brother knitting machine carriage will not move freely.

my brother knitting machine carriage will not move freely.
JA: Do you know the model of your Brother knitting machine? How old is it?
Customer: KH-881
JA: How long has this been going on with your Brother knitting machine? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have hardly used this machine, and not recently. The carriage moves freely until I attach the actual knitting part, it moves a few inches, the problem would seem to be with the right hand side of the carriage. I can see no problem, and have cleaned and oiled the machine.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Only that this was not previously a problem and I wonder if some of the setting knobs are incorrect.
