I have a Panasonic Inverter Fridge/freezer with vitamin safe

Customer Question

hi, I have a Panasonic Inverter Fridge/freezer with vitamin safe feature. I can't find the model number, but the closest model i can see online is NRB32FX2. It has started beeping, and the freezer is showing a temperature of -12, when it is normally -20. I have unplugged it and then plugged it back in after an hour. But no change. Can you help?
JA: How old is your Panasonic fridge?
Customer: I think it is probably about 10 years old
JA: How long has this been going on with your Panasonic refrigerator? What have you tried so far?
Customer: it only started this morning. I check the back of the drawers to see if anything was in the way. and like I said, I turned the power off and then turned it back on an hour later.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: on the display, the freezer setting is flashing -12. I have pushed the freezer set button to get it back down to -20 but the display jumps back to flashing -12. It is not setting the temperature.

This indicates temperature issue and/or an air flow problem due to heavy ice build-up inside the rear wall of the appliance.
Please try this:
Leave it unplugged and empty with door open for around 24-36 hours.
Then plug it back (expect some water on the floor) and wait for another 8 hours so it gets back to optimum temperature.
The problem should be resolved.
However, if the issue appears again then the problem is with defrost operation.
You will have to test/replace the temperature sensor and/or defrost heater element to resolve the issue.

Please do not hesitate to ask any follow up questions.
I hope you enjoyed your experience with justanswer.co.uk today.
Have a wonderful day.
Thank you.

Hi again. I removed the drawers and there is no visible ice build up. And the freezer items are melting so it’s the actual temperature is definitely not cold enough.
Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Is it still worth unplugging it?
Expert:  KevinWhiteJA replied 11 days ago.

The ice build up is inside the rear wall.

Expert:  KevinWhiteJA replied 11 days ago.

Yes, if you can please leave it unplugged for around 12-36 hours with doors open.

Oh ok, so that means I won’t be able to see it, correct?
Expert:  KevinWhiteJA replied 11 days ago.

If you can remove the rear wall to see it.

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Ok thanks I will try but not sure if I’ll be able to do this
