My oven control panel has gone haywire. The clock is working

Customer Question

My oven control panel has gone haywire. The clock is working but nothing else. We turned it off and waited before switching it back on but no difference. I was not able to reprogramme the clock but it is working.
JA: Is your oven gas or electric? How old is it?
Customer: It is electric pyrotechnic oven less than one year old.
JA: How long has this been going on with your oven? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Didn't use it for several days and when I came to use it yesterday and couldn't. Looked at the instruction booklet, wondered if the delayed timer had been accidentally activated but the temperature control would not work. Probably pressed too many buttons but if that was the case I would have thought switching it off at the mains would have solved that.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Not that I can think of.

Good morning, and welcome to the Technical section in JustAnswer, an independent paid question and answer platform that matches customers' questions to experts in various skills. My name is ***** ***** I'll be happy to help you today.

Since "haywire" can mean different things to different people, could you attach a photo showing the display when there is power to the appliance?

Also, have you checked to see if the childproof lock has been activated?

I see it now - thank you.

When you turned off the power to the appliance, for how long was it off?

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Probably about 10 minutes. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My tablet ran out of charge and now my phone is about to!!
Expert:  Tim JA replied 15 days ago.

No problem. I am about to go out myself.

I would remove power, using a switch outside the appliance of course, for an hour. My gut feel is that your oven control module has a fault, but it's worth trying this step because it's free and occasionally it works.

Let me know how it goes and I will respond as soon as I can.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Thank you Tim. I will get back to you if it doesn't work.

You're welcome. I'll await your news.
