I have a Neff fridge/freezer KA3902B20G. The fridge went substantially colder last night and froze a few items in it (I don't think had adjusted it as temp read 2 degrees this morning. The water filter also isn't working (though the ice is). Looks like we might need a new filter as that symbol has appeared on the display, but should that affect the the water distribution or the coldness of the fridge?
JA: How old is your Neff fridge?
Customer: Bought in 2017
JA: How long has this been going on with your Neff refrigerator? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Since this morning. We switched it on and off and turned the temp up to 4 degrees
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I don't think so. I don't think we've ever changed the filter though!

Yes the water filter should be replaced however, this indicates temperature issue and/or an air flow problem due to heavy ice build-up inside the rear wall of the appliance.

Please try this to solve the issue:

Leave it unplugged and empty with door open for around 12-24 hours.

Then plug it back (expect some water on the floor) and wait for another 4-8 hours so it gets back to optimum temperature.

The problem should be resolved.

However, if the issue appears again then the problem is with defrost operation.

You will have to test/replace the temperature sensor and/or defrost heater element to resolve the issue.
