The evaporation tray on top of the compressor is not designed to be removed for cleaning you would just use a sponge to remove any water which is pooling inside it, where is needs removed then remove the water and you need to lift up and towards you its a very right clip which locks it into position on to of the compressor and just a case a brute force. The reason to remove water first is that its likely the water will spill out when the clip un latches and the tray suddenly comes free.
