JA: What happened just before the light on your Hotpoint washer came on?
Customer: Smell of burn so turned off went to restart and beeped and flashing light came on

If the lock light is on and you smell burning then its more then likely the door lock has burnt out as these are prone for this happening.

There was a recall for the door locks burning and your model is on there. Now it doesnt mean it part of it as it depends on the serial number.

Click the link below and enter your details of your washer and it will tell you if its part of the recall.

But if your model isnt part of the recall it can still be the door lock and wiring so you need to check them and see if its burnt out from there.
