Customer Question

Hello, got a robert hennell egg cruet that I think is worth some money?
JA: The Appraiser can help. You can also send photos once I've connected you. Do you know how old the item is?
Customer: Not specifically no, but must be early to mid 1800's
JA: What condition is the item in?
Customer: Not mint, I wouldn't really know...
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Appraiser should know?
Customer: I have seen Robert hennell 6 Cup egg cruets sold online (wickerwork style) this is a 4 cup cruet that I can't seem to find anywhere

The marks are: Lion for London, Gothic P indicates it was made exactly: 1850-1851. I`ve seen your egg cruet at auction and it is quite a rare, really beautiful, and desirable item. Condition is perfect and nothing is missing. The price guide would be £450 - £500.

Ah ok, just I have seen the 6 egg cup version has sold for I think 5000 pounds sterling. So just because it is 4 cups that drastically reduces the value?
Expert:  joannad330 replied 8 months ago.

The latest auction result (£450-£500)  of your basket comes from late 2020. In my opinion, currently, because of the pandemic, prices at auctions are not the highest. If you plan to earn more for your basket, I think you should wait until the market comes back to normal.
