Engine management diagnostic says manifold swirl flap faulty

This answer was rated:

Engine management diagnostic says manifold swirl flap faulty - can I repair ? Its blown fuse. (Audi A3 2.00 Tdi 2005)

what tends to happen is that the swirl flap sticks / gums up which then overloads the motor and can burn it out

a new manifold assembly with motor can be pretty expensive (as you've been quoted)

now the flaps can sometimes be unstuck and the motor may be alright but this needs work / time to strip and clean and this may not be cost effective depending on the garages hourly rate

however there's also cases where flaps have broken up and then been ingested by the engine which will destroy it so most people opt for a new manifold

sorry its not better news
