2003 audi a3 tdi power steering slight binding in straight ahead position any ideas plz

1st thing to check is if the power steering pump belt is in good condition and not slipping,
if the belt is cracked then repalce it and also check the fluid levels once you've driven the car 10 miles or so

if the fluid is anything other than a dark red then it should be replaced

if the issue is still there check the steering column joints for binding by spraying them 1 at a time with WD40 - if the steering improves then replace that joint

and if these are OK then I'd consider replacing the power steering pump
