a3 2014 2.0 tdi s-line. at startup, the car turns over many times before starting. then mmi give warning message "automatic stop start system failure. function not available" intermittent fault naturally. engine does appear to run fine and actually stating.
any ideas.

Hello, welcome. My name is***** will do my very best to assist you with your question. I apologize if you have been waiting long for a response.
This issue is caused by a failing crankshaft position sensor, this is a common failure and results in the issue at hand. The next step needs to be having the sensor ohm tested and likely replaced.
