Is the check engine light ON when the engine is running .

2005 and light is not on

Okay good no check engine light .

Meaning there is no engine speed sensor or vehicle speed sensor malfunction

which puts this to an instrument cluster malfunction, "which is a very common problem with this car" .

There is a good site where you can send in your cluster for repair .
