hi there I have a e46 with the n42 engine ni had fault codes read today and came up listed as:
2811: local can communication error
27f3:no can message from valvetronic control unit
27ed: no can message from asc/dsc
27ce: load monitoring
2862: variable valve gear voltage supply, power output stage
I also have yellow traction light on, yellow abs light and red handbrake light illuminated.

I have no idea what these mean and am at a loose end as im not sure if it is alternator issue or vvt ecu gone wrong suggestions would be most appreciated
what testing has been carried out besides a simple fault scan?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no tests have been done yet it only happened other day when the ccv oil separator was changed?

I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.

the most common cause of multi system issues like this is a voltage problem so the alternator and battery needs to be tested first and all cables/connections checked

if the voltage and charging system are okay, then this could be a wiring issue or failed module

however, as you have multiple modules involved showing faults, proper hands on checks and test plans will need to be carried out using either a factory BMW tester or by unhooking module one by one, so this will need to be done before the issue can be 100% identified

Sorry if you were hoping for a different answer, please don't shoot the messenger - I can only give the honest answer, which I have. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for my honest and prompt response, and I receive nothing for my time and answer until a positive rating is clicked.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
