I've just purchased a 320i automatic, and have noticed that over an hour after use the engine seems to be really hot!temp gauges are fine and coolant level okay, just wondered if this was normal for 2.2l or if there maybe more to,sorry there's not a lot of information to go on,any advice appreciated, thank you
If the trmp guage is fine, how do you know the engine is hot?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Just opened bonnet and the heat was quite intense, tried to touch engine but far to hot, smell hot but not burning if that make any sense, only done 70.000 miles,I feel a bit silly asking a question that maybe absolutely nothing, but its my first and want to make sure that if there is a problem I can sort it with your help Asap thank you
I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.
The car is not overheating. This is normal. Engines run at high temp are put off a lot of heat. If the temp guage is at center, the car is at the correct temp and you should not worry.
Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
