Got a bmw z3 2000 4cyl 1.9 can you tell me what voltage

Customer Question

Got a bmw z3 2000 4cyl 1.9 can you tell me what voltage reading i should be getting across the thermostat connector pins i have no voltage between them but have 13.6 volts between each pin and earth hot or cold engine. I understand the thermostat has a heater built in which operates the thermostat, i would have thought there would be no voltage cold.
Have rplaced thermostat and connector as they were burnt out leading to overheating engine and expensive repair whic i wish to avoid again.
