I have a 2006 series 1. The windscreen washers have stopped

This answer was rated:

Hi I have a 2006 series 1. The windscreen washers have stopped working but the wipers are fine. There is no sound from the water pump. I have had it checked by my local mechanic but he can't find any fault with the pump or fuses. He says there is no power going to the pump but can't find the reason for it. Any ideas ?
Thanks Jackie
what testing has been done specifically to determine the pump is okay and no power is going to it?

Sorry I couldn't say. The mechanic has been working on the car for the last 2 days but he cant find the fault. He has advised me to take it to a specialist.

He ordered a new pump but said there was no point fitting it because the old one is ok.
do you have the last 7 digits of the vin of the car available?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No sorry. I am in work at the moment.
what model 1 series is it? 3 door? 5 door? convertible? coupe?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.
if the pump is verified as good, the only possible causes would be:
blown fuse
bad relay
wiring issue
failure of the wash switch/stalk
if the mechanic who is working on the car is not familiar enough to diagnose the issue then the car should not be with him, it should be at a specialist.
Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
