hi Steve, I have a 2007 X3 2.0D, there is 93,000 miles on it and it has suddenly developed a whistling noise especially when you are going through the gears and intermittent loss in power. No Black smoke from exhaust and engine runs smoothly when idling. Can you advise what the problem might be. Many thanks Rodney
Have any diagnostics been carried out?

No I wanted to get an expert assessment from someone like yourself first.
I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.
the most common things that would cause this would be an air leak of some kind, failing turbo, or failing crankcase ventilation system.
a hands on diagnostic by a technician familiar with this vehicle should be easily able to confirm. I would say a turbo issue is most likely
Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
