This answer was rated:

525d Tourer 2011
Drivetrain warning light increasingly coming on
New EGR valve fitted. Still frequent warning light
Fuel consumption up
Now suspect DPF blockageAny thoughts
What faults are being logged when the light comes on?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Often no fault recorded on Vehicle information setting
Yesterday engine orange light came on but went off when restarted
Engine oil level too high came up but has subsequently disappeared
Car seems to be using more fuel than usual
I don’t mean faults on the info screen, I mean scanned faults from the cars memory using a scan tool
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I do not have a scan tool

Are we finished?

no we are not, I logged off for a period.

why was the egr valve replaced if you haven't had the codes read?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The codes have been read by a Local garage but they are now struggling to determine the problem
The current thinking is it could be a blocked DPF
From what I read on the internet this is not an uncommon problem
I am just wondering if there is an obvious solution we are missing

there are dozens and dozens of reasons that the drivetrain warning light can come on - there is no way for me to point to an obvious reason as there are far too many possibilities

If a capable garage working hands on believes it is a blocked dpf, I have no reason to doubt this as it is somewhat common.
