Have you checked the oil filler cap for white residue?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I’m at work, I can’t talk just write
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Didn’t see anything white, maybe lighter brown...
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ok, that's fine.

Causes of white smoke are blown head gasket, turbo oil seals (that could explain the drop in oil level), cracked engine block, crankcase ventilation valve issue.

Did the engine overheat on the temp gauge?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I don’t think so

Was there any oil coming out of the filler cap?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

This issue could be something as simple as a blocked crankcase breather valve or a major fault as I listed earlier, it needs investigating or return the car if you have legal standing.

The CCV issue is quite common on the 1 series. Cars in auctions always have hidden faults, that's why they're usually there, i've had plenty of experience.

Hope this helps
