i have a jaguar xjs 1990 coupe sometimes it will not start .when i wiggle the gear shift it starts. is there a sensor on the gear shift
Hi .

If this is an automatic then yes there is a neutral safety switch on the shifter that lets the control system know it is in Park or neutral and is safe to start.

If this neutral safety switch does not work then the starter motor will not get a signal to let it start.

Here is the location ,and as you can see disconnect the switch and test it with a test light .

If you need further assistance then pleas eget back to me .
