Hi and welcome to just answer.

A cam shaft sits inside the cylinder head of the engine it is driven by the crankshaft via a chain or belt.

The camshaft opens and closes the inlet and exhaust valves .

This is not related to the propshaft which provides the drive to the differential and is underneath the vehicle.
