its a cable clutch on these and it sounds like yours may be set a little tight

there should be a "compensator" along the cable (located near to the brake fluid filler pot). You simply twist it so that the arrow lines up with a number to take up the play.

try backing your's off a little

what can happen if pattern parts have been used is some cables come without this compensator which leaves you with no adjustment
