Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will try help you with this.
It is more likely to be a sensor fault rather than the ABS pump.
Does the ABS light come on?
The easiest thing to do is connect a suitable scan tool to read the code from the fault memory.
This will help where you start looking for the fault.
The ABS light is not on, just the ESP light on the dash, the ESP switch is not illuminated.
Then I don't think it will be the ABS pump
What made you think it was?
What sensor do you think it could be?
That's why you need the scan tool.
It could be the steering angle sensor, a wheel speed sensor, damaged wiring etc.
I had the brake fliud replaced in december, is it possible that this may be effecting the sensor
Can you explain why you dont think it is the ABS pump? (so I have a bit of amunition when I take it to the garage for an inspection)
Is the ABS light on?
Does it come on with ignition and then go out?
It comes on and stays on.
Until you start the engine and then goes out.
No the light is on with the engine running
The ABS light
the ESP warning lamp
I'm asking you about the ABS light
the ABS light goes out when the engine is running
Then there is no fault in the ABS system.
What engine do you have?
Its a bit confusing because the owners manual states 'it will also come on (ESP light) if a fault should occur in the ABS because the ESP operates in conjuntion with the ABS'.
2.0 ltr 105 ps
But there are two distinct systems that talk to each other.
That's why there are two lights
You can lose the ESP but still have ABS in an emergency.
I understand that it is a common fault (ABS pump failure) with VW seat etc with the ESP light staying on and wanted a second opinion about it. I dont want the garage to turn round and say straight away that it is the ABS pump.
That's why it is best checked with a scan tool to see what code is stored.
It could be a communication error between the systems.
Ok Mark thanks for your help I will get a diagnostic done on it. Regards Richard
Sometimes you find that just by clearing the code the system is ok and no other work is required.
No problem Richard.
