1997 saab 900se, manual , put in gear and would not move, let clutch out when in neutral and it stalls . boyfriend been using over the last few months it has juddered like the brakes have stuck on.

Have you tried putting into gear or any gear inc reverse - hold the clutch in - then turn the engine on and then let the clutch out?..if so..does it stall too?

Ok..By the sounds of it id say this is probably going to be more than likely a internal transmission issue or something has actually bound up or the gearbox stuck in gear - unfortunatly the only way to know that would be to get the gearbox pulled of course this will give oppertunity to check the clutch assembly at the same time and rule out either way - if the linkage to gearbox is intact and moving but no change as per gears then it certainly sounding internal in the gearbox..i can se it being driveshaft issue as that wouldnt really cause the car to stall if a shaft had broken - you can check both from the gearbox to the hubs - all the same if you can..But as above going by your description it certainly sounding that way as above..I do hope this helps..If you need to ask anything else or include anything further then just continue
