have just but a clutch in land rover disco td5 . the engine turns over but will not start . have broken a sensor on gearbox housing is this called a crankshaft sensor and would it stop it from starting? hope u can help thanks Paul

Hopefully i can help..

If that the black coloured sensor pretty much near the top of the clutch bellhousing then yes that the crank sensor or TDC sensor..its held with about one single bolt to the bell housing. and has a two pin plug going to it..if thats broken the sensor - then that would certainly stop the engine from starting as the ecu can't see where the engine crank position it takes a reading that sensor from the to replace it and hopefully that should get it started..I do hope this helps
