2001 year V70 Service reminder reset. Won't reset but error code 045 appears
Hello and Welcome..

My name is ***** ***** Im happy to help / advise you -

Ok - this is an issue that crops up on these from time to time - I need you to carry out the following procedure - exactly as-is / as follows...

Get in the car - make sure the drivers door is fully closed.

Put the key in position one..
-hold down trip odometer -
-turn key to position two -
-when orange triangle flashes release trip odometer...

That method will usually work to rid the 045 - let me know how you get on..

If that doesn't work, I can give you another method - but other than that, you will need the software re doing at a Volvo dealer..

If there is anything more by all means get back to me and we can carry on...

>> Meantime >>>> Please do click on the "OK/ Excellent ratings" for me - Thank you in advance for that...

You can and are most welcome to get back to me anytime you might need - clicking the OK ratings does not close you out at all..

Kind Rgds, MIKE.

Tried it twice triangle didn't flash still shows 045 service still not reset

Hello again John...

Can I just ask - assuming you are carrying out the procedure as I outlined - are you holding the dash button down throughout?

If not - try that - let me know...

Yes I did for quite a while, still got the mark on the end of my finger

Okay -- In that case - please try the following "method" John-

Again - it has to be done exactly as written...

This is from the Volvo tech for this car John -

  • Ensure all doors are closed.
  • Turn ignition key to position I.
  • Press and hold reset button
  • Immediately turn ignition key to position II.
  • Keep reset button depressed until trip meter is reset to 0.

NOTE the following John -

NOTE: If trip meter has already been reset:
    • Hold reset button for 10-14 seconds until previous trip meter reading is shown.
    • Press and hold reset button --until trip meter is reset to 0.

NOTE: MY 2003→: A yellow warning light will illuminate when it is time to release button ... ( Yours is earlier so this wont happen John )

  • Release reset button within 4 seconds. There will be an audible signal when reset is complete.

NOTE: If reset button is not released within 4 seconds, the service interval indicator will not be reset.

NOTE: If the service interval indicator flashes it may be caused by one of the service interval indicator parameters not being programmed. This can only be done with suitable diagnostic equipment. Always check for any stored trouble codes as this may affect the resetting of the service interval indicator.

-- It may take a few goes to get it right John - Let me know how you go again.
