my seat leon mk1 (2002 tdi) has a problem with the cooling

Customer Question

my seat leon mk1 (2002 tdi)
has a problem with the cooling fans running after engine shut down, they only start to run after shut down not before. this is not realted to engine temperature, at which it is running fine at 90c max. both fans run. i have replaced the coolant sensor, the radiator coolant sensor and the fan control unit, none have changed anything. they will continue to run until the battery is flat, disconecting the battery and reconnecting it stops them.
any ideas?
