HondaCRV 2010
Am being advised that the rear differential that gets little use ( only in*****)
should have its oil replaced and flushed out every 4 to 5 years due to contamination.
Your experts thoughts please

They do actually recommend the fluid change fairly early on these rear differentials to be honest - normally you have a Maintenance Minder subcode 6 come up for changing the rear diff fluid..I do note that your car has a very low mileage on it...but the job in itself is fairly straight forward..there are only two plugs to undo on the rear to drain old fluid out,new washer and then refit lower plug back fill plug and fill with the recommended honda diff new crush washer to plug and refit fill plug back in...Personally at this stage based on the nature of the job i would consider get it done now...I do hope this helps

Unfortunatly actual dealer prices aren't the cheapest and the price obviously reflects that..but the job itself isnt all that difficult and the access points for draining and refilling are easy to get too - any reputable independant garage can carry that out and much reduced cost provided they get the proper fluid direct from Honda...
