how often should a timing chain on a 05 opel astra 1.4 petrol

This answer was rated:

how often should a timing chain on a 05 opel astra 1.4 petrol be done how many miles
thanks richard

On the 1.4 chain driven engine there is no set mileage interval for timing chain replacement - unlike the timing belt variant which preferred replacement every 40,000miles to change that - timing chains normally can last the lifetime of the engine provided the oil/filter services are done regulary and with the proper oil and filter..the only time you would replace a chain is if the chain itself is becoming noisey during running / cam/crank sensor is out of sync due to chain stretch..or the mileage is somewhat in the 100,000-150,000mile range...I do hope this helps
