Hi, 2004 Grand Vitara 1.6 petrol - get a clunking noise from the front of the vehicle when braking after a 20 mile run on the motorway. It doesn't happen on short journeys.
When it clunks, the '4 wheel drive' sign comes up on the dashboard even although it is in the*****mode.
Hello I'd 1st suggest checking the oil level in the front axleif you don't know when it was last refreshed then drain it off and fill with freshand as you drain it allow it to pass through some paper towel to catch any debris as this will provide clues about the condition of the axle
