Suzuki sx4 diesel 45,000 miles engine now has very low

This answer was rated:

Suzuki sx4 diesel 45,000 miles engine now has very low torque at low revs and misses under load until over 2,500 rpm. Pollution light now on. Error code says polution valve operating intermitantly. Any way to confirm before I replace? Is this a common fault? Sorry lost exact code
Assistant: Do you have the torque specs?
Customer: No, only going up a hill I now have to do it in first whereas before it would do it in third
Assistant: What year is your SX4?
Customer: 2007
Assistant: Are you fixing your SX4 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No but I have changed all filters
Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Well I am an idiot of course but I lost the piece of paper with the code but when I was with the spanish mechanic - car is in spain- we looked it up and it said polution air valve operating intermitantly, the valve appears to be on top of the engine and has something to do with particulates
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I think it is a exhaust recirculation valve

Hi, are you still there? Do you want to send me an answer by email if you have to think about it?

I thought that would be the code, hence the example I gave above.

P0404 is EGR performance, a very common code for jamming EGR valves in many diesel vehicles. Best option is replacing the valve assembly.

If the valve is partly off its seat, you get low power.

About $300 US would be average repair cost.

Hope this helps.
