when clutch is engaged it makes a grinding whining noise almost the same as as a fan belt slipping noise - when the pedal is pushed to its maximum it stops- when clutch is released it makes the same noise but stops when foot is released
JA: This is potentially serious. How long has it been going on?

JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: peugeot 206 51 reg
JA: Are you fixing your 207 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing tried as yet and no will go to a garage or have a mechanic look at it just after an idea as to what it could be

Customer: engine starts first time - its a diesel just passed its mot

Hi..there..

Sounds like the thrust bearing could be failing.this is what pushes against the pressure plate to enable you to change gear when the engine is running.. To be honest this ideally needs to put on a lift and the engine run n put through the gears whilst someone under the car listens as the clutch is depressed and released to guage where the noise is emitting from..if its from within the bellhousing..then its bascially a new 3 part clutch kit that will need to be installed..
